It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

Clichés aside, in truth, it was a dark and stormy night. I was a young boy, half asleep, in the back seat of the car with my sisters as we were driving home. Suddenly the car lurched a bit to the side and we were woken to a rapid Thump Thump Thump sound. Dad got out into the unfriendly weather to change the tire and before long we were back on the road.

When the year 2020 ended, you could almost hear the collective sigh of relief from everyone across the nation. It was like we all were saying, the old has passed and the new has arrived! We’re three weeks into the new year now and I don’t think it feels any different than before.

JCC Middle School Honor Roll Released

Johnson County Central Middle School has released the Honor Roll for the second quarter and first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Underlined names received all A’s, names preceded by an asterisk (*) received A’s with only one B, and all honor roll students have no grade lower than a B.

The events of last Wednesday were nothing short of horrific. I am appalled at what I saw and fully support the prosecution of every participant and planner of the uprising. Snap impeachment, however, without a complete investigation sets a dangerous precedent. The impeachment vote may feel politically expedient to Democrats, but this is not the correct way to address the violence nor will it bring our country together. Instead we should be moving forward to work on the key challenges our country faces. I remain committed to building on our accomplishments from the past four years, which had given us one of the strongest economies in American history prior to COVID-19, as we safely reopen and rebuild.
