My son borrowed my car this weekend so he could go visit his nephew (and his sister and brother-in-law). Sonny has his own vehicle; two, in fact, but they are both pickups and they are better suited for nearby destinations, not three-hour tours.

When one is deciding who they will support for the Nebraska State Legislature, it should not be determined by whether the candidate is a Democrat, a Republican, or any other party. We need to put aside the “party” affiliations and support and vote for candidates who will represent Nebraskans in their district.

Session is Right Around the Corner

We are less than two weeks away from reconvening the 106th Second Legislative Session. The Capitol staff has been working hard to ensure the Chamber follows guidelines of local health officials and senators remain healthy. There is a packed to-do list in the last 17 days of session, and property tax relief is still my top priority.

Going the Wrong Way on Healthcare

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) – also known as Obamacare – is ten years old. However, with ten years of hindsight, it is clear the ACA has been anything but affordable for Nebraska families. In the Third District, insurance on the ACA exchange often costs upwards of $30,000 for a family when you include annual premiums and deductible. Despite the ACA raising health insurance rates instead of lowering them, this week Speaker Pelosi brought a new ACA expansion bill (H.R. 1425) before the House of Representatives.
