The 200th anniversary of the birth of Robert Furnas will be observed Sunday, May 5 at Brownville. Events are scheduled Sunday, May 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at various locations throughout the village. Furnas (1824-1905) was a publisher, a soldier, a statesman, an agriculturist and an educator. He was a significant part of the Cornhusker State’s formative years. Furnas was born near Troy, Ohio.
