Ron F. Holtgrew was born April 3, 1961 to Bill and Helen (Wylie) Holtgrew in Wayne, Nebraska. Ron graduated in 1979 from Winside High School. He enjoyed working on and racing motorcycles in his youth. He married Kim Kay on Sept 5, 1981.

He ran a commercial hay business, raised cattle, and farmed with his dad until 1986 when Ron and Kim moved to Atkinson, Nebraska. Ron was a farmer first but enjoyed many passions throughout his life including trucking and his auction company, Holtgrew Auctions.

Ron enjoyed ice fishing with trips taking them as far as Canada. boating, metal work, collecting John Deere tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren, friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Kim of Atkinson; daughters Kristin Bohling and husband Bob, Ashley Zeisler and husband

Jon; grandchildren, Brett and Trever Bohling, Avery, Taylor and Jordyn Zeisler and one great grandson Bob Bohling; Brothers Bill (Sue) Holtgrew of Hinton, IA, Bob (Catherine) Holtgrew of Winside, NE, Don (Sandra) Holtgrew of Atkinson; Sisters Vickie (Joe) McNamara of Sioux City, IA and Linda (Willy) Kreikemeier of West Point, NE; Mother-in-law Lila Kay of Wayne, NE; Brother-in-law Kevin (Teresa) Kay of Wayne, NE; Sister-in-law Karla (Bert) Moore of Holsclaw Hill, KY; many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by both of his parents and his father-in-law John E. Kay.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Atkinson Community Center with Pastor Wayne Owens officiating.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson, Neb.

Pall Bearers were Scott Holtgrew, Jon Zeisler, Jim Knust, Kevin Kay, Leon Heller, Gary Raymer, Doug Breiner, Galen Heiser.

Honorary Pallbearers were all of Ron’s remaining family and friends.

Seger Funeral Home of Atkinson is in charge of arrangements.
