Ines Meister, of Tecumseh, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January, 27, 2024. She was born in Rulo, NE on November 23,1933, to Elsie (Craig) and William Bryan. Ines was the youngest of the couple’s five children. Ines attended school in Rulo until her sophomore year and then moved to Tecumseh to finish high school. Ines always shared that she loved school, was an excellent student and enjoyed going back to Rulo to reunite with her classmates. While she was in high school, Ines worked at Bill’s Cafe, where she met and was smitten by Donald K. Meister, her husband of over 60 years. Ines was proud of her career, working for Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph for 14 years before moving on to the Campbell Soup Company, where she worked for 32 years before retiring in 1988. Ines loved to play cards and was hard to beat at almost any game. She was an avid Husker volleyball fan and if you asked her, her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ines was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: William Jr., Richard, Berniece, and Howard. Her beloved husband, Donnie, passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Meister; grandson, Jesse Kaster; and great grandchildren Sig and Amelia Meister. Ines is survived by her children David P. Meister of Woodland Hills and Carmen Carman of Omaha; her grandchildren Billy (Crystal) Kaster of Sterling; Melanie (Allison) Meister of Murdock; Shannon (Shamus) McKoy of Mesa, AZ; Dewey (Jose) Meister of Boston, MA; John Carman of Syracuse; Allen Ladd of Lincoln; and great grandchildren Beau, Saeda, Lane, Ellie, and Shamus II. Ines will be missed by many other nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ - Maple Grove, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating. Cheryl Meister will accompany congregational hymns, “All Things Bright And Beautiful” and “Amazing Grace” Honorary pallbearers are Betty Colson, Ilma Gottula, Irene Thies, Jim Williams, Craig Bryan, Bill Bryan, Hope Williams and Mary Ayo. A register book will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, Nebraska. Memorials may go to the family’s choice.
