Diane M. Hubbard, 65, of Sterling, went on to her next journey in life on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Lancaster Manor in Lincoln. She was born to Raymond and Berdine (Horns) Thies on December 14, 1955 in Syracuse. She graduated from Lincoln High School on May 31, 1974. On that same day, she married Claude “Cotton” Hubbard, Jr. in Lincoln. She was a wonderful wife for over 46 years. Diane enjoyed babysitting off and on for over twenty plus years, as she loved children. She was a great cook and worked for many food establishments. Diane loved her grandchildren Kelsie and Mason. She enjoyed watching their many sporting events. Diane was a talented seamstress as she has sewn blankets, dresses, and many other items over the years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, canning, and gardening. She was a former member St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Douglas and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sterling.

Survivors include her husband Claude “Cotton” Hubbard, Jr.; daughter, Kelly (Lonnie) Holthus of Sterling; two grandchildren, Kelsie Holthus and Mason Durow (Les’s son); five brothers, Norman (Shirlene) Thies, Lawrence (Sheila) Thies, Mike (Lola) Thies, Daniel (Kathy) Thies, and Terry (Brenda) Thies; brother-in-law, Mark Hier; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Berdine (Horns) Thies; son, Leslie “Les” Hubbard who died on October 19, 2010; sister, Catherine Hier; parents-in-law, Claude, Sr. and Nellie Hubbard; brother-in-law, Lester Hubbard.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 26, 2021 at St John’s Lutheran Church of Sterling with Pastor Kevin Arndt officiating. Family prayer service will be at 10:15 A.M. on Friday in the church basement. If you would like to watch the funeral service online, you can go to the church’s Facebook page. Masks are encouraged and social distancing will be observed. Inurnment of the cremains will be at the Sterling Cemetery. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place but a register book will be available for signatures at Zink-Fox Funeral Home on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from noon until 8:00 P.M.
