Clarence Arthur Parde, 92, of Beatrice, died Friday evening, February 9, 2024, at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. He was born on September 3, 1931, at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, CO, to Herman and Tena Parde. He was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Collins by the Rev. Dr. Conrad Becker and his sponsors were his grandparents, Ollie and Alice Zimmerman. The family moved back to the Pickrell, NE, area in 1936. He attended grade school in Pickrell and then the rural schools of Mumford and Mount Olive. The family settled in rural Johnson County where he finished grade school at District 69 and then graduated from Lewiston High School with the Class of 1949. Clarence was confirmed by Pastor Reents at the American Lutheran Church in Filley. Clarence was married to Joyce Roschewski on June 5, 1955, at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice and they celebrated 68 years together. He taught Sunday School for 29 years including many years teaching confirmation and leading adult Bible study. He served on the Beatrice Lutheran Hospital Board, church council at Peace Lutheran Church in Lewiston and at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice where he was a long-time member. He also served on the Board for the National Farmer’s Organization and the Johnson County Rural Water District. Clarence farmed for many years and was an Amsoil Executive Direct Jobber.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Parde of Beatrice; daughter, Mary Ann (Allen) Harms of Crab Orchard; grandson, Russell (Kelly) Harms; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Tyler Harms; brothers, Raymond (Barbara) Parde, Merl Parde, and Conrad (Gail) Parde; sister, Norma Heeren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Tena (Zimmerman) Parde; brother, Loren (Betty) Parde; grandparents, Heye and Anna (Wolken) Parde and Ollie and Alice (Frerichs) Zimmerman; parents-in-law, Henry and Goldie (Dick) Roschewski; brothers-in-law, Donald Heeren, Eldon (Mildred) Roschewski and Donald (Margaret) Roschewski; sister-in-law, Jackie Parde.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Friday at the church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from noon until 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
