Carl L. Burbee

October 4, 1941 - February 11, 2024

Carl Leonard Burbee was born October 4, 1941 to Leonard and Doris (Albin) Burbee at Union, Nebraska. He grew up in Iowa and Nebraska. Carl grew up on the farm with his family and farmed with his dad after graduating in 1961 from Silver City High School in Iowa.

He met his future wife, Eva Stranathan on a blind date in Glenwood, Iowa. They were married at her home in 1962. The couple lived in Manley and later Weeping Water, where they raised their family. After Eva’s death in 1991, Carl moved to Dunbar and then lived between Colorado and Nebraska.

Carl became a resident of Belle Terrace in Tecumseh and later the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. He loved all dogs, farming and spending time with his family.

He passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at the Syracuse Area Health Hospital at the age of 82 years.

Carl is survived by his children, Kenny Burbee and wife Susan of Douglas, Roger Burbee of Talmage, Deborah Burbee of Talmage and Connie Francois and husband Brad of Cook, grandchildren, Samantha and Daymon Francois, several step-grandchildren, partner Ramona Stranathan of Tecumseh, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eva, stillborn daughter Susan Marie, brothers Duane and Rex Burbee and sister Jane Tague.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the East Union Cemetery, Union, Nebraska. Memorials may go to the family’s choice.
