The Sterling Lady Jets girls basketball team played well at times but not long enough in last Thursday night’s Class D2 State Basketball game with Humphrey St. Francis. The seventh seeded Lady Jets fell to the 23-2 second seeded Flyers 60-53.

“Well, we knew coming into the game that we were facing one of the best players in the state if not the best player in the state,” said Josh Pfeiffer, the Jets’ head girls basketball coach. “We wanted to try to take them out of their transition game. We realized, that it is not possible to take them entirely out of their transition game. The best that you can do is slow them down and we think that we did that.
