Mary Elizabeth (Adams) Teten, one of three children of William and Luella (Kohrs) Adams, was born October 22, 1938 in Auburn, Nebraska. She was baptized November 20, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church near Johnson, Nebraska by Rev. Reinsch and confirmed at Zion March 29, 1953 by Rev. Kumpf. Mary attended school in Brock, graduating from Brock High School in 1957. She then went to Dana College and earned a 2-year teaching certificate.

On February 20, 1960 Mary was united in marriage to Reinhold Teten at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Kumpf. The couple made their home in rural Talmage, Nebraska and would be blessed with three children: Tim, Tom, and Jelayne.

Mary was currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage and was active in church and community affairs. She was also a member of Bluebirds Across Nebraska and the Heritage Needlework Guild. As a proud alum of Brock High School, Mary served many years as the Brock Alumni Historian. Mary was almost always in attendance at any of her grandkids activities at school or otherwise.

On the morning of Monday, May 25, 2020 Mary was driven by her family to St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She was transferred from there to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she died on May 25, 2020 at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, parentsin-law Reinhold and Minnie Teten, son-in-law Steve Clark, brother-in-law Gene Robinson, and sisters-in-law Virginia Teten and Mary Jo Teten.

Mary is survived by her husband Reinhold “Tom” of Talmage; sons and daughters-in-law Tim and Melody of Johnson and their children Craig (and fiancée Jennifer Klaudt), Stephanie, and Samantha; Tom and Sandy of Brock and their children Taylor Jensen, Harrison Jensen, and step-children Hans Christensen and Chelsea Christensen; daughter Jelayne Clark and her children Benjamin, Sophie, Maggie, and Natalie; sisters and brother-in-law Donna and Bob Reimers of Griswold, IA; Corinne Robinson of Minneapolis, MN; brothers-in-law Marvin Teten and Duane Teten, both of Talmage; sister-in-law Lorene and husband Bob Trail of Nebraska City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private family funeral service was held Friday, May 29, 2020, at Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage officiated by Revs. Kate Woolf and Ken Tubbesing. Rita Ruenholl played accompaniment for a solo by Rev. Kate Woolf. Burial followed in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery near Talmage. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
