Marjorie Ann Harrah Drennan, age 90, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Nebraska City, died May 28, 2020 at her home. Marjorie was born June 2, 1929 to John Robert Harrah and Kathryn Ollena DeFreece of Nebraska City. She was one of two children.

On September 3, 1950, she and Joseph Lester Drennan were married. They were married for 59 years until the time of his death, October 22, 2009.

Marjorie retired from Northwestern Bell after 34 years of service. Several years later she returned to work as a Certified Social Service worker and was the Assistant Director of Social Services Care Center in Nebraska City for several years before once again retiring.

In 1996, Marjorie and Joe moved to Springfield, Missouri. Marjorie was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Kings Way Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri.

Marjorie volunteered in the gift shop at Mercy Hospital and received recognition for over seventeen thousand hours of service. Marjorie had a great love for children, animals, being with people and enjoyed helping her friends and neighbors. Marjorie also enjoyed feeding the birds and sitting at her kitchen table looking out her backyard and trying to identify the different species of birds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lester Drennan; parents; and brother Robert Lee Harrah.

Survivors include sister-in-law Betty Harrah of Nebraska City, many nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Marjorie was a devoted wife, care giver, sister and friend to all.

Marjorie was laid to rest in a graveside ceremony next to her husband, Joe, on June 1, 2020 at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
