Johnson-Brock crushes Griffins 72-14

JOHNSON - The Johnson-Brock Eagles remained undefeated at 5-0 after a 72-14 thrashing of Diller- Odell Friday night, Sept. 28 at Johnson. The Eagles are 2-0 in the district. The Griffins drop to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the district. Head Coach Mitch Roberts commented, “We were able to run the ball effectively and control the line of scrimmage. Our blocking was much improved from previous weeks. We forced a few more turnovers and were able to set up great field position. I am really proud of our effort and energy throughout the course of the game. We will continue to improve this week in practice as we prepare for Pawnee City.” 1st Quarter Scoring: J-B- Co. JCC dominates P.C. in three sets

PAWNEE CITY - The Johnson County Central Lady Thunderbirds traveled to Pawnee City on Thursday, September 27th and helped their hosts participate in a

"Volley For Autism" night. The Lady Thunderbirds dominated the match from start to finish as they won in three straight sets, 25-10, 25-12, 25-8. Zadie Plager started the game off with an ace tip followed by a kill by Ava Berkebile and an ace serve by Haley Beethe. Plager landed a kill down the line and Berkebile later had an ace serve to go up by a huge 11-2 advantage. Lexi Graham had a kill soon after and then Carrie Beethe powered a couple of spikes through the block to go up 16-3. Graham and Plager both continued strong play at the net and Berkebile added an ace tip and it was 24-7. P.C. fought off three set points before JCC closed out the scoring at 25-10.

JCC pounds Cougars in District play

TECUMSEH - The Thunderbirds opened their District play on Friday night, September 21st with a 43-0 shut-out win over the Conestoga Cougars who came into the contest with an 0-4 record. Head Coach Gabe Meints commented, “It doesn’t matter what the record is of your opponent that you will be facing on Friday night, you need to play your game and hope for the best.” When asked how his team prepared for the Cougars, Coach Meints added, “Anything can happen on any given Friday night, so you must always be prepared.” Coach Meints added that these words could not have been more true as he and his staff had to make some last minute adjustments to the roster, as 5 of the JCC starters did not start for undisclosed reasons

Sterling Lady Jets claim Class B Mudecas Championship

BEATRICE - The Sterling Lady Jets entered the 2018 Class B Mudecas Volleyball Tournament as the #2 seed last week, but they brought home the gold after knocking off Lewiston, Southern and Tri-County.

In their first match, the Lady Jets faced the #7 seeded Lewiston Lady Tigers on Monday night, September 10th and won in straight sets, 25-7, 25-9.

Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles fall one game short in loaded Class A Mudecas bracket

BEATRICE - The Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles were the #1 seed heading into the loaded Class A Mudecas bracket last week, but came up one game short of claiming the Championship and finished as Runner-up.

Johnson-Brock vs. Palmyra

The Lady Eagles traveled to Beatrice on Monday night, September 10th to take on the #8 seeded Palmyra Lady Panthers. Johnson- Brock won the match in three tough sets, 27-25, 18-25, 25-13.

JCC Lady T-birds knock off Wilber-Clatonia in three sets

SYRACUSE, TECUMSEH - The Johnson County Central Lady Thunderbirds had a busy week with a triangular and a home game.

JCC vs. Wilber-Clatonia

On Tuesday night, September 4th, the Lady Thunderbirds traveled to Syracuse to play against Wilber-Clatonia and then Syracuse.

In the first game, the T-birds came out on top against Wilber-Clatonia 25-27, 25-13, 25-20.

Sterling Lady Jets sweep triangular

STERLING - The Sterling Lady Jets swept their host triangular last Thursday night, September 6th as they knocked off both the Falls City Lady Tigers and the Pawnee City Lady Indians in two straight sets.

In their first game of the night, Sterling defeated the Falls City Lady Tigers in two sets, 25-22, 25-16.

T-birds bounce back with big win

JOHNSON - After an opening loss last Friday to a good North Bend team, the Johnon County Central Thunderbirds bounced back and looked much improved against the visiting Louisville Lions on Friday night, August 31st. The Thunderbirds won the game by a 48-13 score.

JCC led 7-0 after the first period and were ahead 13-7 at the halftime break. The Thunderbirds poured on 21 points in the third quarter and outscored the Lions 14-6 in the final period to roll to the victory.

Lady T-birds start season with victory over Falls City

FALLS CITY - The Johnson County Central Lady Thunderbirds travled to Falls City last Thursday, August 30th to play against the Falls City Lady Tigers and the Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Lady Titans.

The Lady T-birds came in hot the first game by defeating the Tigers 25-10 and 29-27.
