JCC Thunderbirds set new school records at ECNC Track Meet

The Johnson County Central Thunderbird track team took advantage of the perfect weather conditions on Saturday, May 3rd at the ECNC Conference Meet which was held at Yutan.  Johnson County Central’s Jay Kuhns started the day off with a stellar performance in the boys’  Pole Vault. Jay cleared 13’1” to set not only a new ECNC Conference record, but also a new school record.

Perfect track conditions for the 2014 Falls City Sacred Heart Invite

The track conditions for the running of the 2014 Falls City Sacred Heart Irish Invitational on Tuesday, April 22nd were absolutely perfect which set up for a record-breaki,ng day for several athletes and personal bests for others.
With plenty of sunshine and hardly no wind, the Sterling and Johnson- Brock tracksters took advantage  of the perfect conditions to place well at the meet which hosted 13 competitive teams

JCC golfers edge Auburn to win HTRS Invitational at Kirkman’s

KIRKMAN'S - HUMBOLDT - Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer hosted their annual Golf Invitational on Tuesday, April 15th at the Kirkman's Lakeview Golf Course with eight teams competing for top honors. Johnson County Central claimed the team competition title at 370 by just one stroke over Auburn who recorded a 371 for 2nd place. Pawnee City finished in 3rd place at 382 followed by Falls City and Centennial each with a 389; HTRS with a 392; Nebraska City with a 491 and Lewiston with a 541.

Sterling, Johnson-Brock compete at Lewiston Track Meet

PAWNEE CITY - The Lewiston Tiger Track team hosted their annual Track Invitational on Tuesday, April 15th at the Pawnee City track with twelve teams in competition. The Wilber-Clatonia track teams swept the team standings with the girls winning with 141.333 points and the boys claiming their division with 119.5 points.

Keim wins first collegiate event at Morningside

SIOUX CITY, IA - Morningside College athletes won three events at the Northwestern College Invitational track & field meet held April 16-17 in Orange City, Iowa. Emily Keim won for the first time in her collegiate career. Keim, a sophomore from Sterling, Neb., captured the women’s javelin title with a distance of 117-3.

Sterling Jets sweep Mustang Track Invite

FRIEND - The Sterling girls and boys’ track teams took first place in  their respective divisions at the Paul Bachle/Mustang Track Invite which was held at Friend on Wednesday, April 9th. The Sterling boys won their division
with 115 points while the Lady Jets edged Bruning-Davenport- Shickley for 1st place with their team total of 88.

JCC, J-B tracksters take on tough competition at Thunderbird Invite

TECUMSEH - The Johnson County Central and Johnson-Brock track teams participated in the Johnson County Central Thunderbird Invite held on Tuesday, April 8th in favorable weather conditions. The Johnson County Central boys finished in 2nd place overall in their division with 98 points. Falls City Sacred Heart won the division with 126 points while the Johnson-Brock boys didn’t place.

JCC hosts dual with Southern, competes at Friend Golf Invite

TECUMSEH - The Johnson County Central Golf team was busy last week as they hosted a dual against Wymore Southern and traveled to the Friend Invitational in back to back days. On Tuesday, April 8th, the Thunderbirds
hosted Wymore Southern in a dual and won by a score of 208 to Southern’s 219.

JCC hosts 2014 Mudecas Meet

The Johnson County Central Thunderbirds hosted the 2014 Mudecas Track Meet on Saturday, April 5th with favorable  weather conditions. The Johnson County Central boys won the Class A Division of the meet with their team total of 158 points while the JCC girls finished 3rd with 79.3333 points.

Season Outlook: “The Johnson County Central boys’ 2014 track season looks to be an exciting one. With both state qualifiers (Jay Kuhns, Pole Vault and Spenser Sullivan, High Jump) returning and a good number of young athletes we look to be even more competitive this year. We have a good distribution of athletes spread throughout many events.
