Tecumseh Junior Legion baseball team blasts Pawnee City 13-1

The Tecumseh Junior Legion team traveled to Pawnee City on Thursday night, July 3rd and came home with an easy 13-1 win after five innings of play. Tecumseh got their bats going early in the game as they took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. P.C. led off in the bottom of the inning with a base hit before Tyson Parrish fielded a grounder at 2nd base for the 1st out.

Tecumseh Astros win 12 & Under League baseball championship

On Sunday, June 29th the Tecumseh Astros capped off a great season by beating their arch-rival, the Tecumseh A’s, 5-0 to win the Southeast Nebraska 12-under baseball championship. The third time proved to be the charm for the Astros, who had lost both regular season games to the A’s. Despite the fact that the Astros were a heavy underdog, one fan commented, “I knew the Astros would win; this rivalry is just too close for one team to sweep the
other in one season.”

Tecumseh A Team takes runner-up in League tournament; finishes 5-9

The Tecumseh A Team advanced to the SE Nebraska League tournament June 24-26 in Falls City with a 3-7 record. They were seeded sixth out of eight teams. On June 24, the A Team played Nebraska City 1, and won this game 8-7 behind the pitching efforts of Nick Goracke. The A Team lost to Nebraska City 1 twice earlier in the season

West dominates East in SECC Southeast Nebraska All-Star games

Southeast Community College hosted the Southeast Nebraska All-Star Classic over the weekend of Friday and Saturday, June 20th-21st. The action began on Friday night with the East vs. the West in the All-Star volleyball match. Lewiston Head Coach Cara De- Buhr was the Head Coach of the East All-Stars which started the  game with several area athletes including Sterling’s Stasia Nielsen

Tecumseh softball teams travel to Auburn for District 9 Tournament

The District 9 Softball Tournaments were held in Auburn on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 13th-15th with five Tecumseh  softball teams in action over the weekend.  Friday and Saturday games were won and lost in each division as follows. Sunday games/results weren’t available at the time of printing

Wenzl to play in eight-man Sertoma All-Star FB game

HASTINGS - On Saturday, June 21, 2014 the 37th Annual Sertoma 8-Man All-Star game will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Hastings College. The game features 48 of the best 8-man athletes in the state of Nebraska. Chris Wenzl of Sterling High School was selected to play in the All-Star Game. Each team was chosen by nominations submitted by Nebraska 8-Man football coaches

Borcher team wins Johnson County Hospital golf fundraiser

Eighteen teams of three participated in a three-man scramble sponsored by the Johnson County Hospital as a fundraiser on cool and cloudy day on Sunday, June 8th. As of Monday morning, June 9th, Michelle Sullivan, Hospital Foundation director reported that an estimated $4,000 in proceeds was raised from the golf tournament.

SE NE All-Star Games set for June 20th-21st

Southeast Community College would like to announce the 26th annual Southeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball games on Saturday, June 21st and the 25th annual All-Star Volleyball game on Friday, June 20th. All games will be held at the Truman Centrer on the SCC-Beatrice Campus.

Winners of JCC’s Elementary track and field day

TECUMSEH - The 2014 Elementary Track and Field Fun Day was held at the Tecumseh site of Johnson County Central Schools on Friday, May 2 with JCC students in grades 1-3 and St. Andrew’s Schools participating. 
Chris Hutt, physical education instructor served as meet director. Hugh Giesbrecht was the announcer. Steve Nolte served as starter. Ribbons were awarded for placing 1-10. Other competitors received participation ribbons. NA denotes names not available for publication.
