Sterling opens district play against Parkview Christian

STERLING - The Sterling Jets hosted the Parkview Christian Patriots this past Friday, September 26th to open up district play for both teams. The Patriots took control in the 2nd half with 34 unanswered points which allowed them to cruise to the 62-34 victory. The Patriots got the scoring started with 2 touchdown passes from quarterback Trevor Polivka. The 1st one covered 20 yards to Henry Tanksley and the 2nd went to Isaac Branding covering 7 yards

JCC places 6th in Class B

BEATRICE - The Johnson County  Central Lady Thunderbirds battled through the Class B Mudecas bracket last Monday-Thursday, September 15th-18th. The Lady Thunderbirds lost two games and won one to place 6th overall in Class B. JCC vs. Sterling The Lady Thunderbirds opened the tournament against Sterling in the first round on Monday and lost by set scores of 20-25, 15-25ht

Clark and Westenburg reign as Johnson-Brock’s 2014 Homecoming royalty

Brody Clark and Brooklyn Westenburg were crowned as the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen at Johnson-Brock Schools on Friday night. 2013 King Sean Koperski returned to crown his successor. He also placed the tiara on this
year’s queen. Johnson-Brock’s Homecoming King Brody Clark is a football and powerlifting letterwinner. He is also part of the speech team and one act play cast. He is the son of Kim Kieler and Rollie Clark

Mead edges J-B in 2nd quarter at Homecoming

JOHNSON - The Johnson-Brock Eagles played a close game against Mead in front of their Homecoming crowd on Friday, September 12th, but a 14-0 second quarter scoring spree by the visiting Raiders ended up being the difference in the 12- 24 loss. Mead led 8-6 after one quarter of play as the Eagles had scored on a 20 yard pass from Trey Stutheit to William Speckmann to open the game

Sterling Lady Jets give Pawnee City a tussle in Triangular

 ADAMS, PAWNEE CITY - The Sterling Lady Jets went up against some big caliber teams last week on the road as they traveled to Freeman and Pawnee City. Sterling vs. Freeman The Lady Jets traveled to Freeman on Tuesday, September 9th to take on the Lady Falcons and lost in three sets, 18-25, 15-25, 14-25. “This was a game that we were severely out matched,” said Head Coach Stan Karr.

Jets fall to Indians in close season opener

STERLING - The Sterling Jets took on the Pawnee City Indians to open the 2014 season for both teams on Friday, September 5th. Once the dust settled, it was the Indians who came out on top of the hard fought battle 30-22. The Indians got the scoring started in the 1st quarter with 2 scoring throws from Voy Pearson. The first scoring throw covered 49 yards to J.P. Schiffbauer. Pearson called his own number to convert the PAT

JCC Thunderbirds finish 5th at own Cross Country Invitational

TECUMSEH - Despite an early morning weather delay, the Johnson County Central Cross Country Invitational was held on Friday, September 5th in less than perfect conditions, but the Thunderbirds made the most of the day as they both finished 5th in the team standings. The Johnson County Central boys finished 5th with their overall time of 1:18:36.50 while the girls finished 5th with their overall time of 1:40:52.10.

JCC Cross Country

Last seasons’ accomplishments: Boys’ team placed 2nd in Districts and qualified for State Coach Nick Weber’s season outlook: “Our biggest strength coming into this season is our experience on the boys’ side. We have a core group of seven runners returning who all ran cross country last year and four of them as members of the team that ran at the state meet. On the girls’ side we have 3 strong runners coming into the season.
