JCC golf team sends coach out in style

The Johnson County Central Golf team hosted their 2015 Invitational on Thursday, May 7th at the Tecumseh Country Club which ended up being Head Coach Rick Richard’s final home meet. Coach Richard is retiring from coaching the golf teams at JCC after this year and will pass on the responsibility to Coach Ben Swanson next year.

JCC’s Ryan Teten gives his all in the Class A boys’ Shot Put event at the Mudecas meet last Wednesday. Teten recently broke the Thunderbirds’ school record in the event at the Falls City meet with a toss of 49’4”.

Postponed Mudecas meet has perfect conditions for all area track teams

PAWNEE CITY - The 2015 MudecasTrack Meet was postponed until Wednesday, April 29th, but it ended up being the best decision as all three area teams enjoyed perfect weather conditions for the competition. That was reflected in the way Sterling, JCC and Johnson-Brock finished in their respective divisions. The Johnson County Central girls and boys both finished as runnersup in the Class A division with respective scores of 111 and 96.

MUDECAS MEET POSTPONED

The 2015 MUDECAS Track Meet was postponed from Saturday to this Wednesday, April 29th and will run as previously scheduled at the Pawnee City track. All three area teams, Johnson County Central, Sterling and Johnson-Brock will be in attendance. Pictured above was Sterling’s Sydney Goracke at the Lewiston Invite recently.

Freethrow shooters advance to State

Saturday, April 11th at Hastings College was the site for 90 boys and girls ages 9-14 across the state of Nebraska to compete for a State Freethrow Championship. All these youngsters advanced from locals to regionals to districts then finally to state by winning each respective round. These four kids together made 82 out of 100 free throws. Pictured above from left to right are: Isabella Haner (12 year old girls-2nd place-made 17 out of 25); Ella Wingert (10 year old girls-2nd place-made 20 out of 25); Macy Richardson (9 year old girls- 1st place-made 24 out of 25); Andrew Richardson (11 year old boys-21 out of 25). JCC finishes runner-up at HTRS Golf Invite

KIRKMAN’S COVE - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Golf Invitational was held on Tuesday, April 14th at Kirkman’s Lakeview Golf Course near Humboldt. Seven teams competed in the varsity and junior varsity meet which ended up with favorable weather conditions for their rounds.

PAWNEE CITY – The Lewiston Track Invitational was held on Tuesday, April 14th at the Pawnee City track with over ten teams in attendance for a very comfortable, yet slightly windy day of competition. The Tri-County girls won the team division with 95 points while the
Sterling boys won their division with 77 points.

JCC track teams place

TECUMSEH - The Johnson County Central Thunderbird Invitational didn’t have the best weather conditions to compete in on Tuesday, April 7th, but our area teams still did their best in their events. The Johnson County Central Lady Thunderbirds claimed 3rd place overall with 77 points and were paced by Maddie Moran’s twogold medal performances. Moran  won the 100 Meter Dash clocked at 13.17 and the High Jump by clearing 5’0”. The JCC boys finished in 5th place with 54 points. Justin Kuhns was the only gold medal winner in the boys’ division. Kuhns won the Pole Vault event after clearing 13’0”.
