Lady Eagles top Sterling in final regular season match at home

JOHNSON - The Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles hosted the Sterling Lady Jets in both teams’ final regular season game on Friday night, October 30th. The Lady Eagles got the better of the Lady Jets on “Pink Out” Parent’s night as they defeated Sterling 25-11, 25-12, 25-10.

Eagles trounce Tigers 63-6

JOHNSON - The Johnson-Brock Eagles hosted the Lewiston Tigers in their last regular season game on Thursday, October 22nd and won by an overwhelming 63-6 margin. The Eagles were up 22-0 after the first quarter and led 50-0 at the halftime break. They tacked on 13 points in the 2nd half for the easy 63-6 win. Scoring Summary was: Austin Griggs 53 yard TD run (PAT Izaac Hedden pass from Stutheit); Trey Stutheit 32 yard TD run (PAT kick by Wiche); Wyatt Nickels 6 yard TD run (PAT kick by Wiche); Cade Heywood 8 yard TD run (PAT kick by Wiche); Devon Clark 59 yard TD run (PAT kick by Wiche); Stutheit 17 yard TD run (PAT kick by Wiche); Jaxson Balm 8 yard TD Pass from Stutheit (PAT kick by Wiche); William Speckmann 4 yard TD run (PAT kick failed); Heywood 72 yard kickoff return for TD (PAT kick by Wiche).

JCC brings home 2 medals from State

KEARNEY - The 2015 State Cross Country Meet was held on Friday, October 23rd at the Kearney Country Club. The Johnson County Central Girls Team took 14th Place in Class D with a 197. Girls Individual Results were: Aleisha McDonald - 11th Place - 21:05; Angelica Wellman - 67th - 22:53; Annika McDonald - 104th - 24:13; Erin Hunzeker - 118 - 25:00; Jordan Rodriguez - 119th - 25:05; Sarai Ares - 138th - 26:53.

Lady Eagles upset Griffins in Pioneer finals

LEWISTON - The Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles went into the 2015 Pioneer Conference Tournament as the #3 seed, but came out the 2015 Champions after wins over Lourdes Central Catholic, Falls City Sacred Heart and Diller/Odell last week. Johnson-Brock vs. Lourdes CC The Lady Eagles took on the #6 seeded Nebraska City Lourdes Central Catholic Lady Knights on Monday, October 19th. They lost the first set, 22-25, but came back to win the next two sets 25-10, 25-16. Fallon Stutheit put down 13 kills in the match while Emerson Carbajal had 9 kills. Brynn Westenburg had 33 set assists.

J-B Eagles come up one score shy against Giltner

JOHNSON - The Johnson-Brock Eagles had their chances late in the game to pull out a Homecoming victory against Giltner on Friday, October 16th, but were stopped short of their goal, and the goal line at the end of the game as they lost 40-48. Johnson-Brock took the initial lead after completing a 4th and 1 rushing play by Devon Clark to get down to the 10 yd. line. Three plays later, Trey Stutheit completed an 8 yd. pass to Jaxson Balm over the middle for the touchdown and J-B went up 6-0 with 8:05 showing.

Saldivar, JCC girls cross country team qualifies for State Meet

MALCOLM - For the second straight year the Johnson County Central Cross Country team will be sending the girls team and Sam Saldivar to the State Meet on Friday, October 23rd. The JCC girls team was the runner-up in a very competitive Class D-1 District on Thursday, October 15th at Branched Oak Lake.

Lewiston Triangular The Lady Jets opened the week at the Lewiston triangular on Tuesday, October 6th against Lewiston and College View Academy.

Sterling Jets shut out Lewiston Tigers, 60-0

LEWISTON - The Sterling Jets played spoiler for Lewiston’s Parent’s Night on Friday, October 9th as they shut out their hosts, 60-0. In the first quarter, Sterling got the ball rolling with Jordan Wenzl scoring on an 18 yard run. Tristan Dirks followed that with a 10 yard run to make it 12-0 heading into the 2nd period.

Lady Jets played four tough matches last week

DORCHESTER, MURRAY- The Sterling Lady Jets played four tough matches last week starting with a regular season game at Dorchester on Tuesday night, September 29th. They lost the match in three close sets, 22-25, 16-25, 25-27. Head Coach Stan Karr commented, “Going into the game we knew it was going to be a tough match against an improved Dorchester team.

Johnson-Brock Eagles outlast Sterling in thrilling 30-28 victory

STERLING - It was a perfect night for football and for Parent’s Night at the Sterling vs. Johnson-Brock football game on Friday, October 2nd. Sterling led 6-0 after the first quarter, but trailed the Eagles 12-16 at the halftime break. The Jets edged Johnson-Brock 16-14 in the second half, but the Eagles held on for the close 30-28 victory.
