Robert “Bob” H. Faris, 79, formerly of Tecumseh, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Holmes Lake Rehabilitation Care Center in Lincoln, NE. Bob was born to Robert and Ethel (Derr) Faris on December 8, 1934 at Tecumseh, NE. Bob grew up at Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School with the  Class of 1952. He was united in marriage to Janice Mathis on July 24, 1955. They spent many years farming on the home place, until

Kathleen (Lempka) Goracke

Kathleen (Lempka) Goracke was born to Ralph and Victoria (Pientka) Lempka on April 25, 1938 on the family farm near St. Mary, Nebraska. She attended Tecumseh Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1956.
She was united in marriage to Roy Paul Goracke on Feb. 23, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Mary, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. They made their home east of St. Mary and lived in Iowa, Lincoln and
Omaha before settling on the family farm in Weeping Water in 1968. On the farm with their children they raised livestock, grew a big garden, loved, laughed and prayed. Kathleen worked at Texas Gulf in Weeping Water until her retirement. In 1996, they sold the farm and moved to Johnson Lake where she continued to enjoy their family and friends. Kathleen spent many hours fishing, boating, cooking, baking, playing cards and praying.

Twilla June (Mahoney) Kalina

Twilla June (Mahoney) Kalina, 86, of Table Rock, Nebraska was born on September 22, 1927 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Ed and Gretta (Tennant) Mahoney. She grew up in Tecumseh and attended public school. Twilla graduated from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1946. Growing up, Twilla got her nickname “Dutch” from her dad. She loved to whistle, tap dance, and entertain along with her sister Phyllis by singing and dancing. In
high school, Twilla was the head  majorette of the band. In her early adult life, Twilla loved to go to the dances on Saturday night at which she met Marvin “Pud” Kalina, the love of her life. She was 13 and he was 18. A few years later a relationship developed. Irene (Ottemann) Koehler

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Iona Irene (Ottemann) Koehler, 92, of Humboldt, Nebraska left us on March 22, 2014 to be reunited with her husband of 72 years, Wilber, the love of her life. Iona was an exceptionally caring, devoted and unselfish wife and mother who will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was born on April 11, 1921 on her parent’s farm in Nemaha County, Nebraska. Iona was one of four children born to Edwin and Mary Sophia (Gobber)  Ottemann. She was baptized on May 1, 1921 and confirmed on September 16, 1934 by Rev. W. Freuhling at Martin Luther Church. Iona later graduated from the 8th grade at
Center School District #43. On October 9, 1941 Iona was united in marriage to Wilber A. Koehler at Martin Luther Church by Rev. W. Freuhling. Wilber and  Iona established their home on the farm in Nemaha County. This

Eldon Frederick Damme

Eldon Frederick Damme, son of Julius and Emma (Niebrugge) Damme, was born on the family farm south of Cook, NE on August 12, 1926. He was the youngest of five children. Entered into rest March 8, 2014. Funeral services were held March 11, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Papillion, Nebraska. Burial occurred at the Osage Cemetery. Eldon was baptized November 17, 1926 by Rev. Abele and confirmed by Rev. Pfundt on March 17, 1940 at Osage Church, north of Cook. He received his elementary education  at a rural school and his high school education at Cook High School. Upon graduation from high school in 1944, Eldon enlisted in the US

Timothy A. Sobatta

Timothy A. Sobatta, age 54, of Lincoln passed away March 1, 2014. He was born May 6, 1959 in Lincoln to Norman R. and Janis (Hupka) Sobotta. Tim was employed with Burlington Northern for over 20 years as a welder and car man. He enjoyed listening to music, watching basketball and hanging out with his friends and family. Survivors include his mother, Janis Sobatta. Sisters and brotherin- law Debra Olson and Tammie Kamerzell and her husband Scott. Nieces Christine Olson and Jennifer Johnson and her husband Justin all of Lincoln. Preceded in death by his father, Norman and nephew Matthew Olson. Services were held on March 5, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers were: Shelley Goodrich, Jeff Moon, Lloyd Francisco, Tim Halverstadt, Don Aikins, Doug Scobie and Steve Wight. Internment of ashes will be at a later date in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, St. Mary, Nebraska. Memorials to the family for a later designation.

Harold Fredric Wagner

Harold Fredric Wagner, only child of Arnold Clyde and Leona Marie (Zabel) Wagner, was born March 10, 1927 at Graf, Nebraska. Harold was baptized on May 8, 1927 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Johnson, Nebraska by Reverend Wm. Harder, and was confirmed April 5, 1942 by Reverend E. C. Hansen, also at St. Matthew. Harold attended Graf country school and graduated from Johnson High School in 1945. After high school, Harold served
in the U.S. Army in World War II. He served in Germany driving mail trucks and officer vehicles. Harold received his honorable discharge January 17, 1947. On May 30, 1948, Harold was united in marriage to Alta Mueller at
St. John’s Lutheran (Stone Church) Auburn, Nebraska by Reverend Gustav Wiencke. To this union was born a daughter Nancy K. and a son Ronald L. Harold “Shorty”, as his customers knew him, spent over 55 years

Col. Hudson Rupert Hurst

Col. Hudson Rupert Hurst, USA, (ret), passed away peacefully in Camden, South Carolina on February 1, 2014. He was 95 years of age. Col. Hurst was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska in 1918. He was predeceased
by his father, Dr. Daniel Webster Hurst and his mother, Julia Corson Swan Hurst, his brother, Paul Hurst, his sister, Mary Hurst Kiechel, and a son, Hudson Hurst, Jr. He is survived by his spouse, Ruth, daughter Mary Ann, numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends from various walks of life. He was married for over 71 years to Ruth Louise Peters of Elk Creek, Nebraska. They met and fell in love in the Tecumseh High School play,
