Truman Yale Eells

Truman Yale Eells, 82, formerly of Tecumseh, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2014. During his lifetime, he served in the United States Air Force, and Nebraska Army National Guard. He was the Tecumseh, Nebraska chief on police in the 1970’s and later was a member of the Seward, Nebraska Sheriff’s Department. In his later years, he was called by the Lord to the ministry and he and his wife, Beverly frequently traveled with their Puppets for Jesus program. He is survived by his wife Beverly; sons Steven, Michael (Laura); and daughter Robin (Eddie) Lance and three grandchildren Daniel (Elizabeth) Eells, Ryan and Jenna Lance as well as a host of friends. Truman left his body as an anatomical gift for medical research. A private family memorial will be held at a later time. Anyone wishing to send condolences to Beverly can do so in care of the Huntington Care Center in Papillion, Nebraska

Myron C. Hopp

Myron C. Hopp was born on May 15, 1932 in the family home in Otoe County, Nebraska to Elmer and Mildred (Richter) Hopp. He passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Nebraska Medical Center in  Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 18 days. He was raised and attended school in Cook, Nebraska. After graduating  from High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. Myron was 
united in marriage to Carolyn J. Luttman at the Methodist Church in Springfield, Nebraska on June 2, 1957. They made their home in Beatrice, Nebraska where Myron worked as a Airplane Mechanic for Engels Aircraft. He later purchased the business and changed the name to Hopp’s Aircraft Repair. He was a member of the Flying  Conestoga’s, LaPlatte Community Church and the American Legion and V.F.W. organizations in Beatrice,

Passed away at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 23 days. Funeral services will be held at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 with Pastor Eric Biehl officiating. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may go to the family’s choice. Jonathan M. Epley

Jonathan M. Epley of Omaha was born on March 28, 1957 to Donald and Ruth (West) Epley. He attended Yutan High School and was active in basketball, football and track. He graduated from high school in 1975. Epley was a member of the United Methodist Church and his hobbies included fishing and camping. He is survived by his father, Donald Epley, sons James and Jon; grandchildren, Alexa, Mason and JJ.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, stepmother, Emma, and brothers, David, Daniel, Donald and James. A memorial service for Jon will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home at 4425 So. 24th Street (24th and J) in Omaha on  Sunday, August 10th from 1 to 3 p.m. Interment will be held on Saturday, August 9, at 11 a.m. in Grandview Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska

Gary Donald “Mac” McDermitt,

Gary Donald “Mac” McDermitt, 70, of Johnson, passed away July 20, 2014 in Lincoln, NE. He was born on December 16, 1943 in Omaha to Donald “Mac” and Freda (Blakeley) McDermitt. He  was baptized and confirmed in the Clifton Hills Presbyterian Church. Mac attended Benson High School in Omaha and joined the Nebraska National Guard in 1964. He worked for Brandeis in the furniture department  until 1971 when he went fulltime for Nebraska National Guard. He served nearly 30 years with the Guard ending as a Staff Sergeant.  Mac was then hired by the Army National Guard as a civilian employee for the same position he had held as a Staff Sergeant for another 10 years of service. Mac ended his career as a logistics technician for U.S. Property and Fiscal Materials. He ordered all of the supplies, including tanks, helicopters and flashlights for the Guard. He served under several colonels and adjutant generals in his 40 years with the Guard.
