Merle (Mattox) Nootz

Merle Francis Nootz, 85, of Omaha, passed away January 15, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born July 24, 1933 to Leslie and Ida (Lukens) Mattox in Tecumseh, NE. She grew up in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School.

Merle moved to Omaha and worked for many years for Western Electric Company which later became A T & T. Merle was a hard worker and dedicated mom who raised five children.

Diane Nadine Schacht

December 7, 1947 - January 10, 2019

Diane Nadine Schacht, age 71, passed into the loving arms of her heavenly Father at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, on Thursday, January 10, 2019.  She was born December 7, 1947 in Nebraska City, NE, the first daughter of Marvin and Vivian (Vermule) Schacht.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church near Cook, NE.

Mary Lou (Armknecht) Clark

March 8, 1928 - December 25, 2018

Mary Lou (Armknecht) Clark, 90, of Lincoln, passed away Dec. 25, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born March 8, 1928 to John and Sara (Cowden) Armknecht in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Mary Lou attended Tecumseh Public Schools and graduated from Tecumseh High School. She then went to Lincoln where she graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce. She worked for 36 years as a secretary at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Donald Clark in Wahoo, Nebraska. They made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Donald passed away January 6, 1997.

In her spare time, she enjoyed her flower garden, country and polka music, being with her grandchildren and taking pictures of them, going to the Sunken Gardens and Colby Ridge, keeping up with the Nebraska Game and Parks improvements of their recreation and historical sites and over the years Mary Lou enjoyed many trips to Branson and the Grand Old Opry.

Rex D. Morris

November 16, 1940 - December 19, 2018

Rex D. Morris, 78, of Tecumseh, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Bryan Medical Center East Campus in Lincoln.

He was born November 16, 1940 in Peru, Nebraska to Woodrow Wilson and Sadie Marie (Rowe) Morris.  The family moved from Tecumseh, Nebraska to Lexington in 1951 and Rex graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1959.  Following High School, Rex worked for Monroe’s in Cozad, Nebraska.  

Rex was united in marriage to Anita Haines on May 1, 1965 in Lexington.  Two daughters were blessed to this union: Kayla and Marlo.  They moved to Orleans, Nebraska in 1973 where he worked for the Omaha World Herald as the Area Distribution Manager.  Rex and Anita would later divorce.

Rex worked for the newspaper until the early 1990’s and then retired.  He lived in Arapahoe, before moving to Tecumseh in 2014 and lived until his passing.

Loretta Agnes (Gergen) Davis

February 19, 1936 - December 17, 2018

Loretta Agnes (Gergen) Davis, 82, of Nebraska City, Nebraska passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at The Monarch in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born February 19, 1936 to William and Marie (Grote) Gergen on the family farm, rural Shickley, Nebraska.

Loretta was the youngest of ten children. Her father passed away when she was 7 years old and her mother raised her and her siblings on the family farm.

She graduated from Geneva High School in 1952 at the age of 16. Loretta started college late in life, graduating from Peru State College in 1974 with B.S. in Education and receiving her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska in 1988.

Wilmer G. Brinkman

October 7, 1924 - December 1, 2018

Wilmer G. Brinkman, 94, of Sterling, died Saturday morning, December 1, 2018 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born on October 7, 1924 at rural Sterling and attended country school.

He married Maud Parrish on July 25, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Tecumseh and was a long time Sterling farmer. He was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sterling where he had served on the church council. He also was a former member of the Sterling School Board. He enjoyed his family, fishing, and farming, was a Husker fan, and liked to go camping and travel.

Survivors include his wife Maud of Sterling; two sons, Norman (Kathy) Brinkman of Sterling Heights, MI and Marvin (Vicki) Brinkman of Lincoln; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Faye Brinkman, Barb Miller, and Mildred Carman all of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Richard (Rita) Parrish of Tecumseh; nieces and nephews.

Sidney “Sid” McHenry

Sidney Oliver McHenry was born May 1, 1945 to Rex and Betty (White) McHenry at Red Oak, Iowa. He attended Coburg Consolidated School in Coburg, Iowa through the 10th grade and graduated from Essex High School in Essex, Iowa in 1962.

Sid served in the United States Army from his entry October 27, 1970 to his honorable discharge on September 4, 1972 stationed in Germany during the end of the Vietnam Era. He had a life long passion for working on vehicles and tractors and spent 26 years working for Bob Kuhl until his retirement. He maintained friendships with Bob and his high school classmates over the years.

Sid loved playing cards with his cronies at the Steinauer Tavern. He also loved his yearly trips to Las Vegas. Sid enjoyed watching western movies, especially John Wayne and reading western novels.

He passed away December 4, 2018 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh at the age of 73 years.

Lloyd R. Wehmer

Lloyd R. Wehmer, 80, of Big Spring, TX, formerly of Sterling, died on November 28, 2018. Lloyd has been cremated and a graveside service will be held in the spring of 2019. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling.
