Darold A. Grundman

Darold A. Grundman, 91 of Syracuse, passed away on February 23, 2019 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on September 23, 1927 to Henry W. & Lillie C. (Specht) Grundman on the family farm near Syracuse.

Darold married Rosalyn J. Rowe on June 4, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Cook. Darold worked as a cattle feeder and farmer. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Cook.

He is survived by his Wife: Rosalyn Grundman; Children: Larry (Cheryl) Grundman, Connie (Doug) Kershner, Leslie (Fran) Grundman; Grandchildren: Christine (Jon) Trombino, Shawn Grundman, Rebecca Grundman, Chad (Valerie) Kershner, Nathan Kershner, Karys Grundman, Celia Grundman; Great Grandchildren: Mallory Grundman, Keigan & Jaisa Kershner.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter: Patricia Grundman, Brother: Donald Grundman and Sister: Helen Rowe.

Ronald G. Ramsey

Ronald G. Ramsey, age 84, of Milltown, IN passed away at his home on February 23, 2019.

He was born on July 17, 1934 to Russell L. Ramsey and Eithel F. Ramsey-Doeden of Tecumseh, Nebraska.

He was raised on a farm located near his great-grandparents homestead, which they claimed in 1866.   He graduated from Tecumseh High School, where he received All Conference Awards in football and basketball.   He attended both the University of Nebraska and the University of Wyoming on football scholarships, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Wyoming.

Jean “Jeanie” Marie Dunekacke Tisdale

Jean “Jeanie” Marie Dunekacke Tisdale died early in the morning on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at age 78. She is remembered by her husband Charlie Tisdale and her dachshund Hans, as well as her stepson Paul, his wife Carla, and their daughter Jocelyn. She is also remembered by her siblings and their families: Dave and Carol Dunekacke, Paul and Karen Dunekacke, Lee and Mary Lou Dunekacke, and Mary Ann and Dennis Johnson. She left behind nine nieces and nephews: Amy Oestmann (Darren), Anne Parde (Tanner), Jeff Dunekacke (Cindy), Mike Dunekacke, Julee Jaeger (Tyrone), Jennifer Dunekacke (Alex), Tom Dunekacke (Jari), Trent Johnson (Karen),  and K.C. Johnson (Mariah), as well as 17 great nieces and nephews (and one on the way). Jean was preceded in death by infant brother Kenneth, parents Julia and Fred Dunekacke, parents-in-law Jane and Herschel Tisdale, stepson Lee Tisdale, and best friend Larry Nedrow.

Delores J. Stoddard

Delores J. Stoddard, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, surrounded by her family. Delores was born on February 2, 1933, at Sterling, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Eda (Solomon) Weber.

Delores graduated from Sterling High School. She was united in marriage on July 4, 1959 to Alex (Jack) Stoddard. They had two sons, Ricky and Craig Stoddard.

Delores worked in retail for Giant Store, Jack’s and Shop-Ko. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Delores was a Westdal Mall walker and enjoyed camping. Her greatest joy was her family. Delores was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Delores is survived by her son, Ricky (Cindy) Stoddard of Cedar Rapids, and their children Emily Floerchinger and Isaiah Stoddard; grandson, Tyler Stoddard; brother Dareld (Carolyn) Weber of Sterling and their family.

Katie Baird Allen

Passed away at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the age of 32 years, 6 months and 25 days.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Eric Spruth-Janssen officiating.

Memorials in lieu may go to Blessings from Above Day Care.

Interment will be in the Chimney Rock Cemetery, Bayard, Nebraska on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

Jodelle E. Janssen

Jodelle Elaine Janssen was born to George Gilbert and Mildred Mary (Gottula) Floerke on October 7, 1934 at Elk Creek, Nebraska. She lived with her parents on the Floerke farm east of Sterling where she attended country school through the first grade. She moved with her family to Tecumseh for 2 years, then Lincoln for 2 years, back to Tecumseh for 2 years while her father in the Army, for 2 years in Elk Creek and finally back to Tecumseh where she went all four years of high school. In all, Jodelle lived in nine different houses while she was growing up. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1952.

She was united in marriage to Alfred John Janssen on May 14, 1953 in Kansas. To this union three daughters were born. Al passed away November 22, 2007 while they were living in Brock, Nebraska.

George E. Rothell

George E. Rothell, 88, of Orange, California, passed away February 5, 2019. He was born to Frank and Margaret (Howarth) Rothell on December 17, 1930 on the family farm. He worked hard to get his chores done before heading off to the one room school house. George studied hard and was a straight A student. He loved playing basketball in high school. After graduating from Tecumseh High School in 1948, George went on to attend the University of Nebraska where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

George served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1957. He was a pilot in the Korean War and loved flying. SEMPER FI

He was united in marriage to Elaine Marie Jones on September 26, 1964 in San Diego, CA. To this union one daughter, Leslie was born.

Rosaline F. Hemmer

Rosaline Fern (Rakes) Hemmer was born to Joy and Cassel (Rawlings) Rakes on April 10, 1929 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She grew up in Nebraska City and graduated from Nebraska City High School.

She was united in marriage to Jay Hemmer on March 29, 1947 at the Baptist Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska. They were married for 62 years. Jay passed away June 28, 2009.

Rosaline worked for the Campbell’s Soup Company for 25 years, where she retired. In their spare time, Jay and Rosaline sold rugs that she wove on a loom. Jay cut strips of cloth and tied knots on over 2000 rugs that they sold at the Farmer’s Market in Lincoln for over 10 years. Rosaline sewed shorts, shirts, leggings and blankets for the Lincoln City Mission and her eight grandchildren.

She loved sewing, doing stained glass, gardening and her and Jay loved traveling and were “Snow Birds” for over 25 years going to Gulf Port, MS and Gulf Shores, AL.
