Wayne Lee Thompson

Wayne Lee Thompson was born to Horace and Elsie (McDaniel) Thompson on February 28, 1936 on his grandparents homestead east of Cook, Nebraska. He was one of eleven children born to this union. In February of 1947, Wayne moved to the Tecumseh area with his family. He attended rural school District # 29 and graduated from Tecumseh High School. After high school Wayne worked construction until enlisting in the U.S. Army on December 18, 1956 and served his country in active duty until December 4, 1959 when he transferred to the reserves until his final obligation date of December 17, 1962.

On September 2, 1960 Wayne married Helen Kay Spier. To this union two sons Randy Lee and David Wayne were born.

Randal L. Grimes & Annette L. Grimes

Randal L. Grimes, age 56, and Annette L. Grimes, age 51, both of Douglas passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Randal was born June 22, 1962 in O’Neill to Bernard and Ruth (Kelly) Grimes. Annette was born November 1, 1967 in Lincoln to Norman and Sandra (Gillam) Traux. Randal and Annette were united in marriage on November 15, 1995 in Lincoln.

They are survived by Parents: Bernard & Ruth Grimes, Sandra Traux, Children: Felicia Bertram, Desiree Kunzman, Tori Bertram, Kami (Treven) Thies, Jesse (Alexis) Grimes; Grandchildren: Nathaniel, Aidan, Eithan, Kasha, Sean, Kyla, Carsten, Dominik, Zophia, Amelia, plus 2 on the way; Siblings: Debbie, Jeff, Dale, Karla, Vicki, Norman “Chunky”, Jeanna, and tons of other family.

Funeral Services were Saturday, March 30 at Douglas United Methodist Church.

Victoria Decena

Victoria Decena was born September 15, 1957 to Asuncion and Florentina Decena in Nayarit, Mexico. She grew up in Mexico and all of her schooling was in her home town and she had very good grades. She got married to Patrico Pena and later had a boy named Oscar, then Mayra and then she had Roxanna Pena. Time went by and they decided to move to California. She then had Christian and Erika so there was a total of five children. Living in California they were working and her kids went to school, the three oldest were in high school, Christian was about five and Erika about one when they moved to Omaha, Nebraska for about two years and then the family moved to Tecumseh in 2002. Victoria, Oscar, Mayra and Roxanna all started working for Smart Chicken.

Donna Belle (Peters) Jeffery

Donna Belle (Peters) Jeffery was born to William and Elda (Gottula) Peters on June 16, 1925 at Elk Creek, Nebraska. She was raised on the farm milking cows, collecting eggs and doing farm chores along with her family. Donna was baptized as an infant and confirmed May 28, 1939 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, Nebraska. She attended the Corner School through the fifth grade, St. Peter’s Parochial School sixth through eighth grade and graduated from Elk Creek High School with the Class of 1944. Donna played softball while in high school.

She was united in marriage to Paul R. Jeffery on August 29, 1946 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Willa Jean and Harry Rottman. To this union two children were born, Paula and Ross. After their marriage Donna and Jeff lived in Nebraska until they moved to Burlington, Colorado in 1963 and later moved to Canon City, Colorado in 2005.

Robert L. McPherrin

Robert L. McPherrin, 71, of rural Tecumseh, passed away suddenly at his home Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was born to Truman J.and Eva (Truscott) McPherrin on July 14, 1947 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed March 24, 1983 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tecumseh by Rev. Karl Weinrich, later transferring to the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh. Bob attended a country school and then graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1966. After graduating from Nebraska University Tech School at Curtis with an Associates Degree for Agriculture, he returned to Tecumseh to farm with his dad.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Ebeler on January 11, 1974 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, Nebraska. They have four children, Michael, Scott, Michelle and Kathy.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Passed away March 7, 2019 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 6 days.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Father Craig Clinch officiating.

Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family's choice.

Passed away March 6, 2019 in Canon City, Colorado at the age of 93 years and 9 months.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska with Rev. Robert Schermbeck officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Interment will be in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery for upkeep and maintenance.

Katie Baird Allen

Kathleen Marie Baird (Allen) was born on July 1, 1986 to Roy and Janet (Fecht) Baird (Johnson) in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She has an older brother, John Bey and wife Rose Bey of Gering, Nebraska and two older sisters, Jennifer (Murray) and husband Scott Martindale of Bloomington, Indiana and Jessica (Murray) and husband Charlie Duncan of Tecumseh, Nebraska. This beautiful, brown-eyed girl was the twinkle in her father’s eye and the joy of her mother’s heart. Although she grew up in Bayard, Nebraska, life’s events moved her and her mother to Washington, Indiana where she graduated in 2004.

Steven “Steve” L. Badertscher

Steven “Steve” L. Badertscher,age 59, of Sac City, Iowa and formerly of StormLake, Iowa passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Memorial services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City. Visitation will take place Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sac City with the family present from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Steve’s name. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
