Kenneth L. Ray

Kenneth L. Ray was born to Vernet and Pauline (Steele) Ray on November 16, 1937 in Twin Falls, Idaho. He graduated from high school and received his associates degree. Kenneth served his country during the Korean Conflict. Ken was united in marriage to Ada Stevens on October 20, 1976 in North Hollywood, CA. They lived in the Van Nuys, California area for a number of years until his job with the railroad transferred him to Omaha. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as an informational technology senior developer. After retiring, Ken and Ada moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska and Ken enjoyed working for a few years at Tecumseh Central Market.

June A. (Keim) Heideman

June A. Keim was born in the family home in Tecumseh, Nebraska, to Lucille and Louie Keim on June 3, 1940. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tecumseh. Her dad’s construction business, building bridges and culverts across the state, found the family moving to new locations before coming back to Tecumseh where June attended high school, graduating with the class of 1958. It was at a community building Sweetheart Dance her junior year that June met Harley Heideman. His ornery smile and outgoing personality proved too much to resist and the two were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on July 26, 1958. The newlyweds lived west of highway 50 near Elk Creek until moving to the home place, with the long driveway, just east of St.Peter’s church.

Obituary Betty (Reeves) Clark

Betty Joan (Reeves) Clark 82, of Tecumseh, formerly of Pawnee City, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh. She was born on December 5, 1936 to Arthur and Berniece (Bray) Reeves in rural Nemaha County, Nebraska.

She grew up on the farm near Peru and attended several country elementary schools and graduated from Peru Prep High School. She went to Peru State College for a semester.

Betty worked at a restaurant for a while and then started working in the cafeteria at Peru State and later cooked at the Bob Inn for many years. From there she received the nickname “Bobcat Betty.” Betty retired in 1988 after working there for 38 years. Betty received an honorary doctorate from Peru State College. She was a mother to many, many college students during that time period.

Galen J. Schneider

Galen J. Schneider, 74, of Fairbury, NE passed away June 9, 2019 at Bryan West in Lincoln. Galen was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska on May 12, 1945 and was the oldest of six children born to Mervin & Elzada (Rippe) Schneider. Galen grew up in Johnson, NE. He was baptized at Martin Luther Church in Johnson and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He attended and graduated from Johnson High School in May of 1963. Galen was proud of his country and served 4 years in the U.S. Airforce. He was employed as a Maintenance Tech in a number of places, but primarily with 23 years at Endicott Clay Products. He married Karen Torbeck on August 29, 1976 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Lincoln. They made their home in Fairbury. Galen loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed church activities and time spent with family and friends.

Elmer L. Bilslend

Elmer LeRoy Bilslend was born December 12, 1950 to LeRoy and Helen (Brown) Bilslend in Grand Island, Nebraska. He grew up in Wood River and graduated from Wood River High School. He enjoyed woodworking, playing softball, listening to music & watching sports, especially Nebraska football and Chicago Cubs baseball.

Elmer worked for the packing plant in Gibbon for many years and later for Sam’s Club Warehouse in Omaha. When his health declined, he became a resident of Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, NE. He passed away there June 11, 2019 at the age of 68 years.

Donald L. Staley

Donald LaVerne Staley was born to Keith and Roberta (Colson) Staley on February 8, 1961 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Don grew up in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools, graduating in 1979. After graduation, Don worked for Don Ensor Sanitation Service and later Asplundh Tree Service and MBA Poultry until he was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer.

Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends at the Harvest Bowl and being with his family. After his health declined, Don enjoyed word search books. He passed away June 9, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 58 years.

Don is survived by his sisters Joyce Lockard and husband Jerry and Rebecca Kling and husband Ron, Jr of Auburn, caregiver and aunt, Betty Colson of Tecumseh and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Galen Schneider

Galen J. Schneider passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 in Lincoln, Neb. Galen was born May 12, 1945 to Mervin and Elzada (Rippe) Schneider in Tecumseh, Neb. He married Karen (Torbeck) Schneider and resided in Fairbury, Neb.

Services will be Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury.

The family will greet friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 1 day.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Corey Miller officiating.

Register book signing will be at the Wherry Mortuary Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may go to the family’s choice.

Inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Ezra Dain Attebery, 13 of Vevay, IN formerly of Cook, NE passed away on June 5, 2019 at his home. He was born on December 17, 2005 to George Childers and Cara Attebery in Nebraska City, NE. Ezra attended Johnson County Central through 6th grade.

Ezra excelled at sports especially football and baseball. He enjoyed playing his Xbox, working on science projects, listening to music and collecting rocks. Ezra loved to nurture animals and take care of his family. His family described him as funny, sweet, smart, caring and the best big brother.

Donald C. Wagner

June 6, 1925 - June 9, 2019

Served on a mine sweeper in the Pacific Ocean, United State Navy, WWII from December 2, 1943 to May 19, 1946. Upon discharge, he graduated from Peru State College. He went on to teach at Auburn Public Schools and then went to work on the farm.

He was united in marriage on February 7, 1958 to Wilma Reiman Lairmore.

Survivors are children Janice and Lon Bohling, Papillion, NE; Dennis and Shawna Wagner, Greeley, CO; David and Ann Wagner, Dardenne Prairie, MO; Jayne and Mike Scofield, Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, great grandchildren; In-laws Fran and Harold Chaffee, Lincoln, NE; Virginia Meints, Tecumseh, NE; Floyd Vrtiska, Lincoln, NE; nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Wilma; sister, Doris; brother-in-laws, Noel Mark and Marvin Meints.

Memorials to Nemaha Valley Museum, Nemaha Valley Genealogical Society or to the family.
