Densel Dale Fankhauser of Tecumseh was born on March 14, 1926 to Jacob and Goldie (Moore) Fankhauser in DuBois, Nebraska, and was the only child.

Marilyn Gail Mattison

Marilyn Gail was born March 30, 1943 to Vern and Norma (Peggy) Parson Stephens in Humboldt, Neb. Marilyn and her mom spent the first three years of her life living in Shubert, Neb. with Vern’s parents and sisters while Vern was in the service during WW II.

They moved to Tecumseh, Neb. in the spring of 1951. Marilyn attended Tecumseh Public Schools. She was a cheerleader and participated in chorus, Girl Scouts, and Y-Teens. She attended and was confirmed at the Methodist Church.

Marilyn graduated from high school in 1961 and from there she moved to Lincoln to attend and graduate from Lincoln School of Commerce. Her first job was in the State Capitol Building as a private secretary to Governor Frank Morrison.

Eleanor Hanau

Eleanor Hanau, 88 of Syracuse, formerly of Cook, passed away on May 29, 2019. She was born on the family farm near Avoca, to Walter and Mable (Diller) Ruhga on May 28th, 1931. She was the 3rd of 4 children: her sister, Leora was the oldest, then an older brother, Ivan, herself, and younger brother, Charles. Charles currently lives in Omaha, NE.

Eleanor went to rural schools in both Avoca and Cook, NE and then went to Cook Community Schools. On September 13, 1947 she married Raymond Hanau.

Raymond and Eleanor farmed together on the 5 generation farm and raised their 2 daughters on the family farm; Carolyn (Bill) Cropp and Nancy Engel. Eleanor also opened her own Ceramic Shop, “Eleanor’s Ceramic’s” while living on the farm and continued this business when she and Raymond moved into their house in Cook upon retiring from farming.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Cook.

JoAnne (Lintz) Wilhelm

JoAnne Ruth (Lintz) Wilhelm, 74, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 18, 2019. She was born to Wilbur and Ruth (Bundfuss) Lintz on June 13, 1944 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. She grew up in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Jerry Mueller in 1962 and was the proud mother of three sons, Steven, David and Bradley.

JoAnne moved to Lincoln in 1982 and started working in the Canteen for the Nebraska State Penitentiary and retired nearly 20 years later as their warehouse manager. She married Ronald Wilhelm in Hildreth in 1988. Ron and JoAnne started a seamless gutter business and split their time between Hildreth and the cabin at Harlan County Reservoir where they made many friends in the Kearney, Hildreth and Alma areas.

Louise Behrends

Louise Elizabeth (Parker) Behrends, one of eight children of Reuben and Flora (Pattee) Parker, was born December 15, 1927 in Beaver, Oklahoma. She spent her early years and attended school in Beaver. Louise joined her sister in southeast Nebraska as a young woman and worked at the Humboldt Hospital in Humboldt, Nebraska.

During a chance meeting, Louise met her future husband, Melvin D. Behrends. They said their wedding vows on August 19, 1953 at St. John Lutheran (Stone) Church near Auburn, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm south of Auburn and Louise cared for their six children and the home. Later in life the couple moved to Johnson, Nebraska.

Louise was baptized and confirmed on March 7, 1954 at Stone Church. She loved to sew and quilt and spent many hours doing both at the church. She enjoyed reading and going for walks at her home in Johnson. Louise was also a big Husker football and volleyball fan.

James “Jimmy” Kaster

James Roger Kaster was born January 24, 1947 to Clarence and Evelyn (Lade) Kaster in Tecumseh, Nebraska. He grew up and went to country school near Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1965.

He attended Heating and Air Conditioning Schooling in Omaha and worked for a couple years and then worked at the Campbell’s Soup Company in Tecumseh for 27 years from 1968 until his retirement in 1995. Jimmy later worked in Liberty for the Searcey Grain Company and assisted local farmers with their operations.

In his spare time, Jimmy enjoying deer hunting and watching football and visiting with friends.

He passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 72 years.

Lloyd R. Wehmer

Lloyd R. Wehmer passed away at 80 years of age at Big Spring Scenic Mountain Hospital on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2018. He was born August 16, 1938 at Sterling, Nebraska and was raised on a farm outside of Sterling.

He graduated from Sterling High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from May 1960 until May 1964.

Lloyd married the love of his life, Betty Jo, on September 11, 1965 at Pender, Nebraska. He worked many jobs through the years, but his favorite was the job of husband and father.

Anthony “Tony” Lee Kunzman

Anthony “Tony” Lee Kunzman, 66, of Firth, passed away May 9, 2019 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born to Duane and Alice (Heitman) Kunzman on Sept. 8, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He lived in Laurel, Nebraska till the family moved to Tecumseh in 1970, where he graduated in 1971 and later graduated from the University of Kearney.

Tony worked for the Tecumseh Chieftain, Martin Luther Home (Mosaic) in Beatrice and the Lincoln Correctional Center as supervisor of the wood shop. After his retirement, Tony worked parttime for the Bennet/Palmyra School and for The Voice in Hickman, Nebraska.

In his spare time, Tony enjoyed going to flea markets, swap meets and car shows and talking about old cars. One of his greatest joys was refurbishing cars.

Willistine (Willy) Lydia Alberts Moerer

Willy Moerer was born January 27, 1938 to Henry and Clara Tuxhorn Alberts, Humboldt, Nebraska. She was baptized on February 20, 1938 and confirmed on September 14, 1952 at St. James (Long Branch) Lutheran Church. There, she was married to Wayne Moerer on April 25, 1956. They were married for 62 years and 6 days. With her family around her, she left this earth to be with her Maker on May 1, 2019.

Three children were born to this marriage. Tammy Moerer and husband, Brad Chapman; Lee Moerer and wife, Jenny; and Paul Moerer and wife, Kerri. Four grandchildren - Morgan Marshall and husband, Chris; Melanie Munson and husband, Todd; Seth Moerer and Shae Moerer. Three great-grandsons - Landon and Logan Marshall and Brecken Munson. She had three siblings, Vivian Oestmann and husband, Jerry; Eiber Alberts and wife, Marlene. Her sister Dorothea and husband, Arnold preceded her in death.

William “Bill” Schultz

William Raymond Schultz, 93, of rural Tecumseh, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019.  He was born to Carl and Frances (Gyhra) Schultz on February 20, 1926 in rural Tecumseh, Nebraska.  He grew up in rural Tecumseh and attended school at Hazel Green and Maple Center.  He graduated from Tecumseh High School.

William “Bill” was united in marriage to Dolores Weyers on December 27, 1952 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas.  To this union five daughters were born.  Bill and Dolores made their home southwest of Tecumseh where they farmed and raised their family.  Later Bill had a house moving business and then worked for Tecumseh Concrete.  He also worked at National Crane in Waverly until his retirement.  As a young man, he was also in the Nebraska National Guard.  In his spare time, Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.
