Catherine Louise (Thies) Hier, 54, of rural Princeton, died Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2017 at her home. She was born on November 23, 1962 at Tecumseh. The family lived in the Belmont area of Lincoln before they moved to Burr when she was 11. She graduated from Douglas Community School in 1981. She married Mark Hier on January 23, 1982 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Douglas. They lived north of Sterling until moving to Princeton in 2004. She worked at Leon’s Grocery in Lincoln, the Family Pub in Burr, and the Indian Village Post Office in Lincoln for 16 years. She was a former member of Christ’s Place in Lincoln and attended the Princeton Countryside Alliance Church. She enjoyed being with her family and working on the family orchard and dairy which she used for her ministry. Survivors include her husband, Mark Hier of Princeton; two daughters, Katrina Hintz and husband John of Clatonia and Maria Hier of Princeton; two grandchildren, John Marcus and Jacob Hintz; five brothers, Normand (Shirlene) Thies of Seward, Lawrence (Sheila) Thies of Lincoln, Mike (Lola) Thies of Lawrence, KS, Daniel (Kathy) Thies of Burr, and Terry (Brenda) Thies of Sterling; one sister, Diane (Cotton) Hubbard of Sterling; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Berdine (Horns) Thies. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Princeton Countryside Alliance Church with Pastor Kevin Pringle officiating. Burial will be at the Princeton Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Frank and Pat Mollo in charge. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
