Community members traveling to or near the Johnson County Hospital since March of this year, have probably noticed the ongoing construction of the new surgery suite expansion and renovations of the hospital’s existing surgery facility. The expansion will consist of 1,515 square feet and will feature an additional Operating Room, Sub-Sterile, Equipment, Soiled, and Clean rooms to the existing Surgery Department.

The existing Surgery Department will have a light to medium renovation of 2,730 square feet. The existing Operating Room will be repurposed into an Endoscopy Room. The existing Decontamination and Sterile Processing Room will be upgraded to enhance procedures and sterile processing of material.

According to Hospital Administrator Diane Newman, the total cost of this project is $2,766,562.00. This includes equipment cost of $421,072, and construction cost of $2,345,490. Altus Studios, PC and JE Dunn Construction are the two contractors Johnson County Hospital has chosen to assist with this project.
