Passion for bees turns into educational outreach

By Ann Wickett

National Pollinator’s Week is June 19-25 and you won’t find anyone more passionate about saving bees and the protection of our environment than Danny and Nikki Hayes of Brock. The Hayes family established Aunt Bea’s Apiary four years ago. “We like watching the way the bees interact in the hives and the pollination of the bees to help our food grow,” said Danny. Nikki enjoys being able to save the environment and bee heath.

Aunt Bea’s Apiary offers a variety of field trips for school students, adults, and families of all ages at their Outreach Education Center, which is located at their acreage. They also like to speak about saving the bees and the benefits bees have in our environment. During National Pollinator’s Week, June 19-25, the Hayes plan to host a Beginning Beekeeper camp at Aunt Bea’s Apiary.
