Donna Belle I. Bigley

April 23, 1928– June 7, 2017

Donna Belle I. Bigley was born April 23, 1928 to Don and Dena (Hohl) Scoville near Cook, Nebraska. She attended rural elementary country school and two years at Tecumseh High School. When her family moved closer to Lewiston, she completed her education at Lewiston High School, graduating with the Class of 1945. Donna Belle met her high school classmate and sweetheart Richard their Junior year at Lewiston. Donna Belle received her normal training at Lewiston and taught rural country school for a few years after she graduated and Richard was in the service. Donna Belle married Richard Bigley on May 23, 1948 at the First Christian Church in Virginia, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born. Donna Belle and Richard had a wonderful life together, enjoying 64 years of marriage. She was a loving housewife and mother for her family. Donna Belle enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, crocheting afghans, helping with many different church functions, delivering Meals on Wheels with her sister Margaret, her long time Bible Study group and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donna Belle always remembered family members with birthday and anniversary cards. Donna Belle was a member of Crab Orchard Extension Club, Bobtown Belles and First Baptist Women. Richard and Donna Belle were members of the First Christian Church in Virginia. After it closed they transferred their membership to First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Richard and Donna Belle loved to travel. Among their travels were trips to Israel, Europe, Mexico and Alaska and throughout the lower “48”. Her faith in God and love of family were uppermost in her life. Donna Belle was known for her loving smile, her infectious giggle and her bubbly personality. She had the gift of making everyone feel special. She passed away June 7, 2017 in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 89 years. Donna Belle is survived by her children and spouses, Patricia (Mike) McKinney of Houston, MN, Diane (Glen) Smith of Lamar, CO, Linda (Roger) Rinne of Steinauer, Gary (Myong) Bigley of Manhattan, KS, David (Lorraine) Bigley of Beatrice, Shari (Gary) Hickman of St. Libory, 21 grandchildren, 58 greatgrandchildren and sisters in law, Barbara Caldwell of Clearwater, FL and Ruth Schweitzer of Omaha and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, (Dec. 9, 2012), infant daughter, Kathie Lynn, 2 great-grandsons, sister, Margaret Hothan and in-laws, Betty and Harold Van Laningham and Irene Guiducci. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. Ruby Meister, organist, accompanied Carol Ensor, vocalist as she sang, “How Great Thou Art” and congregational hymn, “Sweet Hour Of Prayer.” Special music included “Thank You” by Jeramy McKinney and “A Wonderful Life” by Chad Rinne. Pallbearers were grandsons, Chet Bigley, Shane Bigley, Brandon Bigley, Daniel Bigley, Dusty Smith, John Smith, Jeramy McKinney, Michael Richard McKinney, Sean Masopust, Joel Rinne, Chad Rinne, Kirk Rinne and Seth Rinne. Interment was in the Lewiston Cemetery, Lewiston, Nebraska. Memorials may go to the family’s choice. Services were entrusted to Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
