Johnson County Central Schools has set another first. A JCC Student Space Flight Experiment “Germinating Red Clover Trifolium protense L” is one of 25 nationally chosen experiments for astronauts to conduct while in orbit this spring. Students researching this project were Rudy Pooch, Isaac Buss, Keelee McClintock, Spencer Dorsey, Natalie Roddy and Mason Waring. “I was surprised our experiment won,” said Rudy Pooch one of the students on the team. “I think it ties in real well with our local ag community,” she added. The team had to experiment with different materials  to find the right components in orderfor red clover seeds to germinate and continue to grow. According to Pooch, red clover naturally releases nitrogen into the soil.
